I did my hurst install this weekend and had the exact same issue. My hurst is only a few weeks old the directions were backwards as well. I noticed it didn't look right from inside so I flipped it the other way and haven't any problems. I'm glad you posted this though because it has been on my mind. Other than that install was a breeeze and the shifting is easy as pie and short as hell. I love it.
