Shaker 1000 vs shaker 500??

RE: Shaker 1000 vs shaker 500??
If there is anyone ordering a new Mustang with the Shaker 1000 then PT Barnum was right! One born every minute. There is no reason to pay that kind of money for that quality radio. In fact, if you are buying USED and the car has a Shaker, you should offer LESS! Say you don't want a car with a CD player that skips!

RE: Shaker 1000 vs shaker 500??
just get the 500 unless you must have lots of bass and you arn't going to change the HU
if your gona change the HU then maybe get the 500 if you want the door subs
if you want all the bass and arn't gona change HU the go ahead and get the 1000
I have had minimal problems with my s500 no more skipping after I went to mp3 cd's and only had the "no sound" problem twice and it went away shortly

1000+ save the cash for an aftermarket HU and speakers and the system will rock for less money. JMO

I would say for the cost no at all...the shaker 1000 is a $1200 add on last i checked and the only difference is the 2 10" subs in the trunk. IMO get the 500 and or just the plain unit and put in all aftermarket speakers and a new HU. You can always add a sub later in the same spot the 1000 subs are suppose to be at. I noticed a huge sound improvement with my Avic-z1 and new 5x7s all around over the shaker 500

I agree that they are esentially free, they are figured in on the price of the car and you dont have an option either way, with a brand new car, you have the option to pay more of less for different features and they are not really free.

RE: Shaker 1000 vs shaker 500??
i know i may have an unpopular opinion, but i got the shaker 1000 stereo and i love it. yeah, it's $1200 or whatever, but i think it's worth it because then i get the factory warranty on my sound system too. anything goes wrong, ford will fix it/replace it.
besides, it isn't super loud, but it is the best damn stock factory stereo i have ever heard in any vehicle ever. mine NEVER skips, plays mp3 cd's, shows text of the song on radio stations (this is a hidden option you must turn on), has speed control, and LOOKS stock so no one will jack my stereo. i say it's worth it...for the benefit of the warranty and the fact that i won't have to go out, find and buy subs, find and buy an amp, wire it all up to my car, hook it up, replace speakers, blah blah blah. installation fees alone are usually $200-$300 for a quality system. not to mention add up the costs for speakers, subs, amps, and it's over a $1000 if you do it yourself. yeah you'll have better components, but it's likely to be much more noticeable to theifs, and no warranty. plus it's not stock looking...
so i say it's worth it, but it's ultimately up to the buyer. that's why it's an option. now if you get the 500, replace it, since that system is CRAP. either get the shaker 1000, or go aftermarket.

RE: Shaker 1000 vs shaker 500??
subtracting my z1, i am under 1000 on my setup easy and I have top on the line stuff for some of it
jl500 amp =250
jl 12 sub = 225
box = 130
5x7s = 100
amp kit = 40
total = 745
you can easily get a good HU for 250 and i will assure you that it will sound much better than the shaker. hell you don't need to get the amp and subs in the rear as the factory 500 subs in the door actually sound pretty good when you replace the 5x7s and HU. You also dont have to buy top on the line equipment and still get a big improvement.
Also most do the install themselves so install cost is negligible for most.
Bottom line, for $1200 all you get is 2 small amps and 2 subs in the trunk, nothing more. and they are not 500 extra watts either. The 500 and 1000 is all marketing. The only way you could possibly get 500 or 1000 is if you measure PEAK and not RMS, and RMS is the standard that all audio is based on.
For those that like the 500 that is fine, its a good factory system in all reality but the $1200 for the 1000 upgrade is insane!

Never knew of a stock set-up yet that I liked for the costs involved.
Unless it was a $100,000 vehicle.[:@]
