Wow...The more I read this forum the more I want to just run right out and buy a new Ford.

Pfft...I knew the '05 wouldn't be any better quality than my POS.

Are people actually seeing cracking and/or wearing-off of the tanning/color of the leather seats this soon? Or is it just that creases are forming? My experience with other Ford products is that the leather they use is tanned pretty softly, like glove leather, and as a result develops creases very quickly. In my 2000 Expedition, I had creases in the driver seat within a few months, but they look pretty much the same 5 years and 90,000 miles later. On the other hand, I have totally worn through the outer surface of the steering wheel leather (since recovered with leather "wheelskins"), and the top of the center console bin where I rest my elbow is permanently darkened.

In contrast, my wife's 1991 Mercedes 420SEL, with 176,000 miles on it, uses a pretty "hard" leather for the seats, and these still look basically like new, even after 14 years and that many miles.

In both cases, I apply Lexol leather conditioner very 5 or 6 months - nothing special.

When i took my gt in for service yesterday, the service rep said only the part of the seat where you sit on the two fronts seats is real leather. The sides of the front seats and the back seats are vinyl. Just an FYI. I had no idea.

Question for Y'all,

is the Lexol product good to use on the '05 GT? I have used the product on my old BMW with some success considering the age of the Bimmer.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated,
later,

You can get maguires at most autoparts, wal mart, K-mart etc. Lexol is another good product. I also have an '04 F-150 Lariat with 12.5K miles and the leather is in excellent shape, same as the Stang I apply leather conditioner everytime I wash it.
