Default shifter coming up... WTF

Lately I noticed it seemed like my shifter moves about a inch out of its place. Ok I know some are like wtf you talking about. So here a scenario

put your hand on the shifter say in first gear. Now sometimes it will move up, straight up. like about a half inch. I do have the HURST SHIFTER, could something maybe have come LOOSE?

Hopefully someone can tell me

Do you mean moving vertically? It looks like something is coming loose. Maybe the two small screws that hold the shifter to the floor. Remove the cover and take a look from within the car. Did you do the install yourself? Used blue loctite?

I've seen that with the B&M before, the bezel loosed up. Locktite always works.

definitely check that out; take it from me, the voice of experience. the same thing happened when i was driving home from philly one weekend. my shifter (i have a 5.0 pro short shifter) was getting sticky and was resisting going into 1st and 2nd gears. i thought it was weird, but kept driving cuz i'm an idiot. anyway, in the middle of the ghetto the damn thing came off - yes, actually came totally loose. i nearly sh*t my pants. long story short, i took the leather and the rubber boots off, found the missing screw and re-attached the shifter. all ended well, but i did almost suffer cardiac arrest.

well the two screws that hold the shifter in place are there and tight. I was thinking it might be something to do with if attached to the tranny?

anyone else have this problem. The shifter coming straight up about a 1/4 inch? everything looks tight.

Does this happen with the car being in neutral and your able to just lift straight up on the handle? The reason I ask is I had the exact same problem with my first Hurst. Everything was installed correctly and used loctite. It didn't happen at first but maybe 3-4 days later and got progressively worse. I replaced it with a new Hurst and when examining the old shifter it was actually internal to the shifter while completely out of the car. You could actually lift straight up on the shifter handle so it was related to the linkageprobably I fluke......so I thought. No problems thus far with the replacement
