not directed really to you 157, it was more a response to rogan, sorry if i was not clear on that. And i do not think the 5w20 oil will hurt you but I would switch it back to full synthetic 5w30 within a couple months

You are very rightabout killing the engine under
those circumstances. Thanks

Wow! Thanks dude - I am sellingit today. Really appreciate the suggestion. You interested in a low mileage 2006 GT vert? Or maybe I will really just get up early and drive it 10 miles before I get to work - great advice! Glad you took the time to post - really... ( how many beers today?)

What is really killing your engine is your driving. Driving 5 miles a day is sucking the life from the car. It won’t be getting up to proper temperature on either trip home or to work. The condensation never gets burned away so water will build up in the oil. Water and oil don’t mix obviously so that causes its own problems. This water can cause acids to build up within the oil and corrosion would begin within your engine. The oil breaks down faster and you need to change it sooner even though the mileage is less.
Startup is also when the most wear occurs. The lubrication is minimal when you first start the car. This again is improved when the engine reaches operating temperature.
The battery never gets charged either. You know its hard starting a car in the winter with a weak battery, anytime you start the car, you stress the battery pretty good, with small distances every day, its not getting proper charging.
The fuel system is also very rich so you will be using more fuel and there will be more carbon builds up on our 100,000 mile plugs. Once at operating temps, the system goes to an open loop system instead of closed and the fuel mixture will lean up.
Condensation in the muffler is also a problem and they tend to rust in short amount of times.
If you are only driving this 5 miles a day i would really suggest get a car that you don’t car about and get up earlier and drive it 10+ each way to and from.

Do what you want to, but dont complain when you start have problems and then saying its only got like 25000 miles, how can i need a need ****?![sm=WTFsgign.gif]
What do you think causes engine sludge?
I am not saying its going to happen, but the car needs to stretch its legs just like we do.

It's a Geo for you 157db(and me too) - sorry to say [&o] - unless we start to drive at least 10 miles per day - even though I work only 1.2 miles from home WE MUST DRIVE OR DIE.
