Default How do you "recover" the plastic in your car?

I made the mistake today of dragging a vacuum hose at the car wash over the console behind the shifter. It scratched that plastic. I've also noticed some other areas where there are scratches and mars appearing.

Is there anything that will help smooth that out and maybe blend it back in with the rest of the finish? What I would like to find is an aluminum plate to put over the top of that flat surface where the cup holders are, all the way up and around the shifter.
