Default Seat Squeaking

K, so my seat squeaks when I sit in it. A mild problem, i know, but it's still an annoyance. Does anyone know how to cure this problem. The dealership is the last route I want to go...morons. I just don't want to start RRing it, for fear of blowing the side airbags in my face.

I don't know of a fix, but I have the same problem. An annoying metal on metal squeak coming from the center of the driver's seat back rest. Happens every time I get in the car or move around more then a few inches.

bmk,

I think you may have the reasoning, lol. Our fat asses prolly weren't meant to be sitting in such nice seats. What do you weigh? I'm 6-1 and 220lbs.

As an engineering intern, I worked for an automotive seating supplier. Troubleshooting bumps, squeaks, and rattles (BSR as they call it in the auto industry) is usually done by putting the seat and/or entire vehicle on a shaker table. Since you wont be able to do that, you're best bet is to have someone push/pull back and forth on the seat back while another person listens. Try pushing pulling at the top of the seat back, and then try moving your hands to other locations, such as the sides, center, etc. Also, try getting in/out of the seat in the same fashion as when you reproduce the squeak. There could be any number of things that could cause a squeak. Hopefully you'll find the squeak emanating from an accessible location. Perhaps it's something that needs tightening or a little bit of grease. Pay special attention to the adjuster assembly, i.e. the tracks, both top and bottom under the eat. Just like any auto related BSR, you may never find the problem. You'd be surprised how much tme engineers spend troublshooting these BSRs themselves. Many times, the fixes are meant to eliminate the noise temporarily, just long enough so that it doesn't appear until after the vehicles been purchased.

im 5`10 and about 195.. i was thinking of taking it to dealer and getting them to fix it for free because they flooded my car a couple of weeks ago by leaving the door opened during a rainy night.. i think that could be it.. the humidty in the air or a flood(in my case, both) rusting the springs or what ever inside the seat causing it to squeak.

I never thought about rusty springs...that wouldn't nearly be as easy to fix as a loose bolt...

Those engineers have acronyms for everything, BSR, NVH, geesh

Mine does the same thing too, not all the time just if I lean against the back real hard.

Quality is job # 1

I have found out that my squeak is coming from the side of the seat where it contacts the center hump when it is expanded. The fake leather is being drawn back and forth on it. I resolved this by rubbing a small bit of vasoline on it where they touch. Now, I get a smooth glide instead of binding. I hate friction.[8D]
