Fun Ride
Was today.
My last ride was a '78 320i with a very tweaked suspension and engine. Still a four banger, but, at 2,500 pounds had no concept of corners. Just sucked up everything, with in reason of course. I had much fun with the Beamer, used 25 sets of tires, on my 26th set, all street, Santa Cruz and Sierra Mountain driving, no track stuff.
So that being said took the GT cruising through the Santa Cruz Mountains today. Covered some 200 miles. Still taking it easy on the throttle, no full throttle, attempting to stay under 4,000RPM.
Car is very impressive. Does well in corners. Drove in some pretty heavy rain along the top of the mountain, curves, sweepers, camber changes, "S" turns, decreasing radius turns, pretty much the whole gambit, tires were great! Pulled a pass on Hwy 1, left it in first and rolled on throttle, pulled well, 100MPH indicated was only 3,000RPM. Pulled a low speed, 3rd gear roll on pass running up hill, no sweat. Brakes into corners and the occasional "Whoops!" were great, never any weird feelings, pulled the car down repeatedly from good speed effortlessly and firmly.
Fun Ride! I wonder what it'll be like when I can climb on the throttle?
