Scary dyno torque numbers???
First off, I don't know much about how engines work or torque converters/multipliers etc, but I am reading a lot and learning as I go. Until recently I had a Procharger. Nice unit. No problems ever. Dynotuned consistently about 430 rear wheel lbs torque and kept rwhp at about 480. So now I've gone turbo. Back to the same tuner and his MustangDyno. Nowcar does have a FB Performance race transmission with full manual valve body and 3 gears (not including overdrive and lockup, but neither of these can be used during dyno or racing). Also stall is set at 4000, but that's going to be changed to maybe 3000 since turbo peaks so much sooner than the Procharger.
Anyway...with the emailed "just to get me going" tune, car produced 515 rw torque. This actually felt consistent with the car's pull on the street. So after tuning andthree back to back runs with plenty of witnesses, rear wheel torque was 655 each time (within a couple of pounds). I understand there is less parasitic loss with a turbo but the 655 does seem high...but3 runs all the same??? Must be something to do with the torque converter/multiplier.This was on the 11 lb spring.I had wanted to try a tune withsome110 race gasand turn the boost controller up a tad, but the tunertalked me out of it. Also the MAFia was not cooperating beyond about 4000 rpm (maybe less), so runs wereended prematurely.Think I'll go with the PMAS fora maf extended. This is the second MAfia that has disappointed.
I've decided to move up the engine build, maybe as soon as a couple of weeks from now. The rearend and transmission are both rated at about 900hp but the motor is stock.

RE: Scary dyno torque numbers???
Don't think it's the dyno. My buddy had his KB supercharged 05GT tuned right after mine and results were impressiveandwhere we expected them to be. I think it has something to do with the transmission and race torque converter (multiplier), but struggling to understand the concept.

RE: Scary dyno torque numbers???
A supercharger will use about 10% of the power it makes to power itself. Even so, your numbers strike me as being high. A few questions...
1. How much boost did the procharger make?
2. Was the race trans ever dyno'ed on the SC setup?
3. Your also 100% positive that the 11 lb spring is on the wastegate, and not the 20 Lb?

2. The race transmission was installed during the last dyno with the Procharger and rw torque was about 430
3. The turbo came with two springs, a 9 and 11 lbs. When both are in place, you get the 20lbs. However, the 11 lb is in place and a boost controller. The boost controller is set at the minimum of 11 lbs
It must bethe combo of turbo and the transmission, some details of which are pasted below...but I have really have no idea what the stuff means.
Billet steel Direct shaft
Competition Hi-flow Manual Valve-body & High Pressure Regulator
Hi Performance Clutch Packs & High Energy Band
High-Peformance Intermediate Sprag assembly
Large Servo Assembly
Modified Front Pump Assembly w/Teflon Rings
Overdrive/Lock-up & Optional-Trans-Brake activated electrically
Ultra-light Stamped Steel Drum Assemblies
Also standard gear ratios appear to be
Standard Gear Ratio:2.40/1.47/1.00/0.67
Optional Gear Ratio:2.84/1.56/1.00/0.67
I’m guessing the 1.00 refers to the 3rd gear.
