Default My poor Car..... red sharpie

Ok,

So I have no idea why anyone would do this to my car.... don't even know a lot of people in this city, not enough time to make any enemies. Anyways, this either happened in a parking lot downtown or the party I was at last night. It had better be downtown because it was a work party. I would be incredibly disappointed if someone I worked with did this ****.

But for the real question, how do I get this off? I have rubbed with soap and water. That works to a point but the outline is still there. I'll try goo gone next. The stripes aren't as bad because they can be replaced but on the paint.... thats just not right.

Any advice for getting this off (I think it is sharpie)

That makes me so mad. Its probably not personal just some angry retard who some day will become a good citizen... but until he does its going to cost decent people.

Let us know if and how you get it off. You never know what the future holds, we might need that info too.

Sorry man.

I think if you do the same that works when someone writes in a dry erase surface with a permanent marker solution, it might work.

Go buy a dry erase marker and use it to "erase" the permanent marker. Obviously, you will have a bigger mess, since you now have dry erase marker over the permanent marker, but grab a wipe and wipe off the marker...It should work.

Disclaimer: This works in Dry Erase surfaces!! I have personally tried it in fridges, walls, model cars (lil cousin) and works. Try this in your car at your own risk.

Try two things

#1) Try finger nail polish remover.
#2) Find some paint cleaner (meguiars makes a good one). Use it like polish, but it acts like detergent for the paint.

I've used Turpentine to remove sharpie from wallpaper and painted walls but I don't know the effects it would have on the paint/clearcoat of a car. It would probably do the trick though at least on the vinyl of your stripe.

DO NOT use finger nail polish remover or lacquer thinner. You will ruin the paint permanently. Some clear coat safe polishing compound (KIT makes one they sell in Wally World) should do the trick followed my a good wax.

Let us know how you make out.

Sorry about the nail polish thing. Never tried but, but was an idea....
I work in a school. We get sharpie off of just about anything with hairspray.
