What's the best way to ask dealer to swap wheels from a used car?
Ok I figured the cheepest way to get the 18" Fanblades on my car which I've had for less than 6 months is to get a dealer to swap from their used inventory. The options on a car they get are luck of the draw anyway so my point is that it's not like they have a vested interest in having a car optioned a particular way.
I have the stock GT 17" Anthracite wheels which being an enthusiast I have taken care of very well. I think a fair offer would be 120% KBB msrp for the swap.
So here's my question, how do I go about asking a dealer to do the switch? (on new cars the sale car has to match the sticker, but on used ones it's all about if the dealer likes you if they will do a swap, so how do I not offend them?).

Just ask ... the worse they can tell you is no -- my stang was hit once on the passenger fener and i went to get an oil change at a the dealer -- when i dropped the stang off i made a joke about them fixing my fender... well sure enough when i went to pick it up it was all fixed free of charge

Easy......tell them if they want to make the deal they will do the swap. NEVER worry about offending a dealer. Their job in life is to bend you over.

this is how i got my wheels. a month after i bought the car new, i was back at the dealership to meet jack roush, and the parts department manager happened to walk by and started talking about trading in my stock 16" steel wheels w/covers for some GT take-offs, got a fairly good deal. i was stated above as well, but it can't hurt to ask, the worst they can say is no (afterall, they are running a business, so there not just ga=onna throw your butt out on the curb, haha)

Exactly. If they want to trade rides, tell them you want to trade wheels.
Unless you just bought your car from them, don't expect anything. If you were in their shoes, would you trade for a lower model wheel? The only way I personally(if in their shoes) would be if I had a car with the fanblades that had wore out tires, and your tires were brand new on your wheels. Just my opinion.
However, if you have a friend that works there, it may be possible. Like the others said, go ask.

Cant hurt to ask. Dont use words like upgrade and the such.
Swap sounds better.
Make it sound like they are getting the better end of the deal.
Some dealers switch and swap all the time. Some hate it
and just want to sell whats on the lot and nothing else.
Dont let em bend you over unless you brought some lube.
