I think they're called spinners because they were used instead of lugnuts, and you "spun" them on to lock them in place. Don't quote me on that though.

anyway, these are meant to look like the ole ones and just replace the centercap

I say we should call these 3 pronged old-school caps "spinners" and the ghetto-fabulous ones "spinnaz" to avoid confusion and to make fun of anyone who would put spinnaz on their car

They might fall off on their own, but they only spin when the tries are spinning
and they do this at the same rate. What a post.

Yeah I just ordered my 08 GT Premium and the Spinnerswere part of the options to add to my standard tires. They do not actually spin unless of course you are driving the vehicle. So incase you kept the standard wheels that don't have the tri bar pony emblem...this is the answer to that. And if Ford ever tried to sell us sh*t like the ghetto-fabulous ones we would all have to kick their A$$.

I have the tirbar spinners on my rims and no they only spin with the rotation of the rim and tire itself. Reminesent of the classics etc......

This post made me feel old and realize that what was cool in the 60's might not be the case anymore. My 66 Ford used to have Cragar spinners as they were big way back when. I just purchased the 5 spoke 610C Cragars for my 07 GT and retrofitted the older Cragar spinner style cap onto them. They look great and I finally got that old school look on a new car.

Lots of cars had factory fake 'knock off spinner' hubcaps. I had a 1965 Buick GS with them. 65-66 Mustangs had them as an option. They were very common and most of us ditched them for a set of Cragars and chrome reverse rims as soon as we could afford them. You don't see the chrome reverse rims much any more but they sure looked good! Yea, showing my age for sure
