Damn $3700 a year! Do you live in New Jersey? If you don't then your driving record must be insane! And yes, that's what's a stated policy does. You can be 1 day into the policy and get the full value of it in the event of a loss. Ahh the beauty of it.

1k a year in New Jersey is about par for the course. Of course age factors in but if you keep your record clean you should get really good rates even in NJ

How are you on the same policy with your in-laws? Do you all live in the same houshold. I hope so because if you aren't and the insurance company finds out they would have grounds to non-renew the policy. (Sorry the insurance agent in me is coming out)

well, if you let your insurance company know that you are super/turbo charged, is that going to make your insurance premium go up because you have a faster car. Obviously it may go up because you are adding 5000 or so grand to the value, but what about the fact that you are possibly adding a couple hundred horses?

The high power factor on a vehicle in terms of insurance is established when the vehicle can reach 0-60 in 7 seconds or less. That may change soon because damn near everything does 0-60 in like 6 seconds but I digress. A turbo or supercharger actually has less to do with it than you would think. You take an NA car that hits 60 in 5 seconds or so it's already rated as high power. So adding a turbo doesn't change a thing, unless you are with one of these companies that will add an extra 5k or so for the turbo or supercharger. Now I have the luxury of working for and being a member of USAA and we don't add extra money for aftermarket parts. Like I said before, if it's fixed to the vehicle we cover it if you have proof of purchase. But when you get in the 20 or 30k range for aftermarket parts you need some specialty insurance. For most that isn't an issue because if you got that much in the car it isn't a DD.
