Whipple Supercharger Question
Im gonna order the whipple supercharger through ford off the ford racing web page, whats the difference from this to ordering the actual whipple kit. Are they the same? The reason I'm going through ford is because I get it at cost at 5,500.00. Also, will a 4:10 gear in the rear be to steep, any input would be great, thanks.

RE: Whipple Supercharger Question
Don't know about the Whipple kit question, but some folks feel that 4.10s are a bit steep for F/I. 3.73s seem to be the preferred ratio for blown Mustangs. I have had both, and I dropped back from the 4.10s to 3.73 because I wanted more 1st gear. For stock or near stock Mustangs however the 4.10s are GREAT!

RE: Whipple Supercharger Question
Whipple engineered the supercharger, it's not a Ford product, just branded with Ford Racing.
You wont hear anyone refer to it as the Ford Racing supercharger. Every just calls it the Whipple.

RE: Whipple Supercharger Question
Is that for the polished HO kit? No way $5500 is cost on the black HO kit.. I paid $5699.
If you aren't a track person then I say try it with the 3.55's first. 3.55's will hurt you in the 1/4 mile, but if you don't go to a track then who cares. I have 4.10's with the whipple obviously and you will not be able to use WOT in 1st gear with street tires anymore. Punching it in 1st from a roll will just spin all the way to redline and shifting to second and punching it will give the same result. It'd probably spin most of 3rd, but I didn't go there. So don't run out and get gears unless you want to run the best times possible at the track.

RE: Whipple Supercharger Question
thanks for the help, the 4:10 gear wont effect my tune will it? If it doesn't, I think ill leave it in and she how it is. I talked to the parts manager that I work with and he said it would be 5,500.00, but It could end up being a little higher, we'll see.
