Default Traction Problems

What are you people doing that are blown or have a turbo set-up when it comes to traction?

I'm pushing 346rwhp N/A and only 327rwtq and when I shift into second from WOT (even if I let the revs drop between shifts) I will go completely sideways and must let off the throttle before doing a 180 degree turn.

I have 18x10/18x9 rims wrapped with some 285/40's out back. I have full suspension mostly BMR and a CHE k-member brace but cannotget any traction on the street and worse at my track. I've used a Nitto Drag Radial and it is just as bad.

Anyways to sum this up, I am curious how any of you are getting traction at 450+rwhp as I want to go with a whipple. I just don't see a 26" M/T Drag Radial doing the trick even for the street. So to sum this thread up, what tires are you running!

My dad, retired racer, almost put his C6 into the wall at a track when he first got it because he could not get any traction. The "guys" in the car club told him to not to go WOT until hitting 2nd or to start off in 2nd. He said that although he thought he'd turn in crappy times, he was surprised at how quick his runs were.

You need to short shift into 2nd and even 3rd depending on conditions. It's the only way

Wow. I know I'm not ready for an S/C then. I'd hit a wall the day after the install.

Yeah I was really surprised at how much I couldn't hook up at the track compared to the street. I run 305's Nitto555r's out back and I hookup just fine on the street even in 1st, I can't even hookup in second at the track. I will try short shifting the next time at the track though, that's a good idea.

Sideways= bad suspension setup. That's why we have test and tune nights...You also adjust your suspension. You probably have a bad wieght ratio so your car is trying to slingshot because your wieght is shifting in reaction to woot. I'd go with some slicks to start and tinker with adj struts/shocks to find that sweet spot

I'm running 285 nitto 555s on the rear and spin very little on the street. Of course having big block torque smooths out the power band quite a bit.
