Problem with shifter or transmission??
OK, I'm one of the old farts that is usually a lurker, but I have had an incident happen twice in 2 days that has me worried.
This is on a '07 GT/CS with a Hurst Shifter that the Dealer installed. I have had no problem with this car (knock on wood) until the past 2 days. Usually, when I shift into any gear, you can only shift so far until it's in gear (you hit a stopping point where you can no longer push the shifter up or pull it down).
Yesterday, when I went to shift into 4th, there was no stopping point. The shifter went past where it normally goes, further down and to the right until I hit the plastic surrounding the leather duster! Today, the same thing happened when I tried to shift up to first! It's like I lost all connection between the shifter and the transmission. Pulling it into neutral and "wiggling" the shifter "reconnected" the shifter back to the transmission.
Yikes!!
Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks!

I use the steeda shifter, the only problem is the Roush shift knobcanscrewall the way in.No problem with shifting.you'd better take her back to the dealership to see what happened.

Shifter handle?
The handle has 2 bolts going through it. One might gotten lose (or both), so the handle moves before the unit engage itself into gear.
Therefore, you run out of travel space and it's really hard to get it in gear.
Look at the simple things first. Pull on the boot ring and it'll come off easy. You can see then if those 2 bolts are lose.
This is a common thing with the Hurst... You need to torque them at 35 at least.
Hopefully, that's all it is.
Good luck.
