The Chevykiller finished...

Thanks. Yeah, I'm pretty sure the show looks make it's speed more suprising. It was definitely the most popular car at FFW. The tranny got smoked because of a stupid Art Carr mistake. Turns out they used a $1.00 plastic clip to hold back the throttle pin on the valve body. The clip broke under heat and stuck the pin closed and we know what happens when a tranny runs wot dry...[:'(]
Anyway, Tony from Larry's Tranmissions rebuilt it exactly the same but fabbed a metal clip to replace the flimsy plastic one. It's been running strong and fine ever since. He also beefed up a few other areas where it appeared Art Carr had skimped.
Jim Bell has a 2.8 custom kit for me to put on and I will eventually, but right now I'm happy where I'm at. The 2.8 will put me in the 9's for sure but it's a whole lot of mods and work to be 9 sec legal and I really don't want a full cage in the car. My cage now is almost completely removeable so when I'm driving around the street everyday, I really don't have a cage and have full use of my back seats. Definitely couldn't do that with a full cage. I know I will eventually do it cause Jim and KB have been really good to me and they want to have a true DD 9 sec S197 but for right now, I'm really happy with the car and don't plan on messing with it for a minute. I'm just going to run at some better tracks and see how deep in the 10's I can go with the set-up now. I know it has a 10.0x in it with a good track and a little weight loss.

Obviously got the tranny figured out, what was the verdict on that one. If memory is correct (getting tougher) you had baked a new AOD last time I heard from you. Great job on looking fast and being fast...nice to see both in this world of show car posers. And don't apologize for running Bogarts...apologize for not showing them on the rear to match!!!!

I would think the moment it gets a full cage that its not a DD anymore
But as long as you drive it daily it still fits the strict definition
Dude, I saw your car and was talking to Scott about it. I loved your dash, I watched you race on the last run when you hit the 10.3. I had no idea that you were hooked up with ST motorsports. I am seriously thinking of having them build my motor for me. He sai you were about 700 BHP and the black one that ran 10.05 was 800BHP, that's just plain sick!!!!
You have a nice car man.

Thanks. Yeah, I've been hooked up with Adam for a couple years and we learned a lot and R&D trial and error a lot with this new mustang platform. Truth be told I am about 640 rwhp and the black one is about 800 rwhp. However, he was running about 750 rwhp at the event. But, pound for pound and HP to HP - I think my car is faster...lol
Ford_Dude - you're right and that's why I don't want a full cage cause then it's definitely not going to be a functional DD. This is why I am leaving it where it is for ahwile and maybe permanently.
Once again, thank you to all you guys for the kudos. I have been around this site since the beginning of the S197's and some friends give me crap about being on this site but I have always thought that overall this is a good site and there are some great members here...[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Nope. Would have but they canceled the eliminations today because it was 75 mph winds in Fontana since last night. It was a bummer. I was in the top 3 qualifiers with Adam and Jim Sr. from JDM

Looks very sweet! Did you have a chance to run either one of the JDM boys?
