Default Dynos?

What is the difference between a mustang dyno and the other kind of dyno, (just forgot what it was called a second ago) and why do they give different numbers. I don't understand. So if I put a 350z on a mustang dyno would the numbers be different on that car as if it where on the other dyno as well?

Yes there is a difference. A local guy who owns a mustang shop near me has explained it to me in great detail more than once. However the informationjust doesn't stick in my brain for some reason. You can contact Dan here... http://www.realspeedautomotive.com/

There are a bunch of peeps on here that are pretty educated in this dept. Just be a bit patient and they will chime in.

btw the Dynojet is considered a standard for people into racing and the mustang dyno is a non-standard piece of equipment

Completely un-true.

There are also land & sea dynos... um dyno dynamics...there are a bunch.

Dynojets tend to show higher numbers. I know land & sea and dyno dynamics tend to show about 10 - 15% lower.

The easy explination I was given by a guy at a shop with a Mustang Dyno is the mustang dyno shows real world numbers. The rollers on a MD are caliberated to put a certain amout of drag on the car that kind of acts like the friction of the car moving through theair, and the drag of the tires touching the road. The Dynojet is more of a measuring device that is almost free spinning therefore it reads higher than the mustang dyno.

There is more to it than that but I can't remember it all... They can both be adjusted to read higher or lower so you will get different numbers at almost every dyno you go to.
