Didn't we all agree it was the Shaker system dragging the battery down?
I do remember reading if you cut your car off before turning the radio off, it could drain your battery.

So far I have not experienced any problems. My Mustang is not my DD so sometimes it sits for a week without starting it.

Plus the factory batteries have low cold cranking amps.
I haven't had any problems yet. I turn off the stereo before opening the door.
Definately upgrade the CCA's when replacing IMO.

It definitely was not the Shaker in my case. Although it very well may have been for others. In my case it was a faulty alternator and a really cheap battery. -Joe

Let me add.....

Its hard to say theres a defective problem with batteries. They are a wear and tear item. The more they are used the closer to death and replacement. Its like a clutch, tires, and brakes. The battery is no different. Just because a battery is dieing doesn't mean there should be a TSB. Whe comparing to a short-term situation, its like saying there should be a TSB for when your first full gas tank runs empty.

The reason there is a rash of battery problems now, including mine which I had to replace last week, is because its colder. Cold doesn't hurt batteries - but it does seperate the strong from the weak. If yours is weak then now is the time that you'll find it out. Electrons and atoms and all that wild-talk stuff travel slower and weaker at colder temperatures. Just look up the Ipod's ongoing battle with cold.

Anyways, replace your battery. You'll be good for 3-4 years. Heck, your alternator will go out before you even need your next battery.

I'll only add one other consideration to ohno's well-written post: batteries on cars from the dealer - you don't know what they went through, their actual age, what weather they experienced in transit. My last new car's battery died in the first year (I think), and soI just didn't bother with the dealer. Walmart batteries for me. They all last the same amount of time.
