Well ... I can say that original Mustangs were either 6's or 8's .... The GT was an optional package that included a V8 ...
Ford did offer this option up until the S197 .... LX could be had in a V6 or V8 ... GT was strictly a V8 ....

Yeah, it was a legit question. My Dad asked me whether I bought a V6 or a V8 after I told him I had bought a GT. Not everyone knows the difference, but they should.
And I always thought the GT meant "gets tang" but what do I know?

I owned one up until 4 years ago when a car collector bought it from me. Sometimes I wished I kept it....even though it didn't put out as much hp as my V6! That's right....a V6 today has more horsepower and gets no respect even though it can out run the latest Thunderbirds boasting their V8 engines as well as some of the Mustang V8s in the past.So be careful when you try to diss the V6 and catorigized it in the same class as the V6s from years ago.
