All this talk about what your computer says atone specific point in time is garbage. Guys will post what they get when they reset their average mpg reading while going downhill with a stiff tailwind. If you want to impress anyone, post the numbers you get when you HAND calculate your MPG at every fill-up and average it out over a number of fill-ups. Fill-up to fill-up readings themselves can be skewed for various reasons, hence the need to average it over time.

I keep a monthly planner in each car and log my info at every fill-up plus log any maintenance I do. Once or twice a month I'll bring the planner in the house or in to work and calculate my mileage and look things over. It's interesting the trends you might pick up on over periods oftime. Yeah, sort of **** but, hell, I'm an engineer...
I've been doing that since July. My car is right at 20mpg. Worse tank ever was16.9mpg averaged over 15.987gallons, best was 22.2mpg over 9.169gallons. I use fueleconomy.gov to log my records.

I usually average 16.5 mpg on a daily basis. I dont do much highway driving.
Although on a recent 2 hr highway trip I got 26 mpg and was not being ultra conservative.....just driving.

I DO in fact believe the statements by some who got over 30. I was driving my gf's car on the highway recently that was averaging 28 mpg steady, i got right behind an suv for about 25 miles and noticed the mpg ended up around 34. I figure with my 26 mpgif i stayed behind a semi or somthing i could easily break the 30 mpg mark.

Staying behind a semi will cut the consumption by a lot, since you're avoiding the drag. It's like being towed almost.

Computer! ? What computer. Mine is computer-less. I hand calculate every tank. Pretty easy as there all about the same.

I've driven my GT from Detroit to LA and back (2500 miles each way), and I averaged 23 MPG. It probably would have been much more, but going through the mountains in Colorado and Utah dropped it significantly (but that was the best part of the drive). Not to mention, on stretches of flat empty road in various parts of the southwest, I picked up speed to about 110 to 115 which didn't help. I remember on the way back cruising from west to east through the entire state of Arizona in just a couple of hours from not driving any slower than 95. That was some fun!

You probably have the rare 4cyl option on your car... Or you know way more than we do.

No offense, but it's very, very hard to believe.
Is your car stock?
That was while the car was still on the trailer... [X(]

Seriously, My V6 got 29MPG all the way from Minnesota to Ohio and back. Just slow enough to avoid the cops (though an Indiana statetrouper had to ride my a$$ goingthrough Indianapolis, he never pulled me over). I realize that's V6 -vs- V8, but there doesn't seem to be much difference. Depending on fuel used, time of year, average speed and type of driving, I can see 30+ on a good day.
