another mystery noise....please help!!!!
ok, i've searched for two days with no luck. some members' sounds are close to mine, but not quite what i'm experiencing. this noise started when it got cold outside (typical i know). when i start my car, i hear a high pitched rattle, almost like a whine, but almost a whistle coming from what sounds like the front or middle of my car.....but it stops as soon as i let off my clutch. once i start driving under load, as soon as i let off my gas, depress my clutch to shift, i hear it again. it sounds almost airy if that makes sense. it does seem to go away once the car warms up for a while. i read some posts about a fix for the clutch housing i believe, but the sound they described seemed different than mine. can someone give me some direction?? is this the same sound/behavior of a common problem???
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

Well, not necessarily, it's mostly a labor heavy job, the part is inexpensive. I'm guessing 3 hours in a shop. The other thing is that if you have a significant amount of miles on the car, it may be as well to get the whole clutch replaced while it's exposed.
This could also be a warranty claim, if it's still covered.

Noisy throw out bearings rarely sieze up or break up, and even when they do, it's obvious they're just about to go fromthe racket they make. If yours is whistling or making light noise, it'll probably live on for thousands of miles so don't panic..

sorry to bring this back up.....but i spoke to my service manager friendat the dealership, and he said he'd look at it, but that it was VERY UNUSUAL for the noise to disappear once the car was warm if it was the throw out bearing. any input anyone??
