Default Tire Presure Sensors, Transfering them to new wheels.

I got new wheels on my car. I didn't realize that the sensor was inside to old wheels. Now the tire pressure sensor fault warningturns on after I start the car and drive it around a little bit. No big deal because all I have to do it hit the reset button.

But I found a guy who would break down the old tires to get the old sensors, getthe new bands for the new 20's I have on and install the sensors on the new tires, all for $80.

Just wondering if anyone has sucessfully transfered old sensors to new tires. Will this for sure make the warning go away by itself? Or will I have to go to the dealr to get them recalibrated or something. If that is the case I don't want to go through all the hassle.

I figure for $80, I would go do this to have working sensors and that annoying sensor off. With low profile tires, it it hard to tell just by looking if you are low. I just wanted to make sure this will all work without having to take it to the price gouging dealer.

Transferring the OEM sensors to new wheels/tire with new mounting bands works fine, I switched out my OEM wheels but kept the same tires, and had the shop mount the sensors to the new wheels - no worries.

I just press the reset button whenI start up. I have gotten used to it but $80.00 doesn't sound like a bad price.

$80 isn't a bad price at all. Make sure that the sensors are in the same wheel they came off of, otherwise you may have to take it to a dealer to get the sensors "retrained". The bands alone are $15 each, and they will have to be replaced--the factory ones are crimped on, the replacements use a worm gear style clamp. I've seen people glue the sonsors to the wheel, and I'll tell you now that it won't last.

It doesn't matter in which wheel they end, our pcm don't control or identify which sensors is where, that would be needed if your 'puter told you an specific wheel is down, but it doesn't.
