....a catback exhaust system or straight pipes? I know the straight pipes are way louder and sound better with the exception of drone and are legal in my state. but is it safer and better performance wise to have an exhaust system with mufflers? I ask because my friend has straight pipes and it is loud and mean and makes my MAC's sound like a hybrid

you will gain more hp than torque w/ straight pipes, but pipes sound way more mean, thats what i got and love them, just keep the mufflers just in case. you can always change them back.

i might try this, I believe you can just take off the mufflers and then add longer tips, correct?

you could do that. you should put some hangers on them to make sure they are secure. or they sell muffler deletes, like loudmouth or boomtubes. or i think its on ninosport.com they got these axlebacks that are just straight pipe. or u could do cutouts, but i think those sound raunchy, but if u just use them for racing, raunchy is great.
