I test drove an 05 GT auto, prior to buying my 05 GT stick. The power was surprising. While I didn't hammer the new car, was considering the buy, and thats just not the thing to do prior to break in, IMHO. I have 800 miles on my GT and haven't hammered it yet either.
I have been told that with the TCS (traction control system) off, it will light-em up. With the hp, at 300 in both cars, the auto should easily do the same.

Ah hell, go test drive an auto today and neutral drop it lol jk, i would kill u.......but hell, with the hp these have, if you stomp you'll get some wheel spin, wouldn't suggest it till you were at least 1K to 1500 miles though.

Go ahead and try a neutral drop, you can only rev it so high the elect throttle control will kick in and wont let you rev very high then then you drop it into drive it will act like its going to stall..
Also you cant do a brakestand in an auto. lol. Put left on brake, left on gas.... nothing happends. lol. Elect. Throttle control.

Dang Technology.....
In my younger and dumber days I neutral dropped my T/A or Z28 every weekend doing street racing. Never blew an engine and never replaced a tranny. Guess they don't make them like that no more.
Anyone here know what the horse power rating on a '76 T/A with the 400 big block would be? I ran straight duals on it and no emissions control but other than that it was stock. I miss that ole girl.
