With all due respect, if you don't know much about this stuff then play on the side of caution and have a good shop do it. You'll want a tune with the CAI if you want the best from it, let alone keep the engine happy.
As far as warranty goes, if you're real worried about it, FRPp do a CAI for the car so check with the dealership about it, prices and impact on warranty (which i suspect will be none if the dealer installs it).

everyone seems to have a different opinion on CAI and tunes. i had a K&N w/out tune and it ran fine, w/ a noticable gain. then i switched to JLT w/ tune and even better. so my advice is to get the JLT, its $50 cheaper than K&N anyway.
