Default ?'s for Folks with Roush Louvers

I am considering the Roush Louvers because I like they way they look over other louvers and I like the idea of being able to take them off to clean the glass underneath. So with that, I had a few questions......

Do the louvers overlap onto painted parts of the car?I understand that they utilize clips that adhere to the glass and all you have to do is loosen the screws to remove the louvers, but they look bigger than the quarter window so I'm just assuming they overlap. I want to stay away from anything going on top of the paint or possibly scratching it. I had Xenon (crap)scoops that used two sided tape to adhere to the paint around the window. I bought the car used with 6k on it and they came on the car. Apparently two sided tape and paint don't mix. I had to have paint repair done to fix where the adhesive chemicals had penetrated the paint.

If the Roush Louvers have potential of damaging the car in any way, I'd just rather go without.

Thanks!

roush are by far the best window louvers, They allow you to see out the back and can be taken off in seconds they dont stick out too far but far enough to look like you have something, they flow with the car and are easy to install, they wont crack like the fiberglass ones and they come painted at the price of most others that are not even primed. and they wont scratch, if they are applied correctly.

yes, they overlap onto the painted parts of the car. There are three brackets. Each bracket sticks onto the glass and painted metal of the car. I haven't had any problems with mine and I love the way they look.

I pulled my Roush louves off to clean the 1/4 windows and noticed that there were some marks on the paint around the windows where the louvers had been rubbing on the paint.I tried by hand to remove the marks with no luck, but I am sure they can be removed with a buffer. Needless to say I put the louvers back on.

Yeah, they do overlap, but still look awesome!

I got the Roush louvers and used an extra layer of 3M VHB tape to space them out
another millimeter or 0.039 thousands of an inch. Maybe this will prevent them from
riding on top of the paint surface and prevent scratching around the edges. I also
replaced the rust prone screws with Stainless Steel ones. They look nice and shiny
instead of the black rust prone ones provided. Almost $400 for paintedlouvers and
Roush supplies cheap rust prone hardware.[:@]

The Roush Louvers do look good. I suggest that you
be careful with how tight you get the screws. I got mine
too tight, and when I took one of the louvers off, a screw
had chipped the paint. Had to use some touch up paint,
but I was still pi$$ed.

I bought them through Ford and had them install it. Cost me 450 bucks, but it was worth it. When I take them off to clean the windows I see no visable damage at all.

We have installed probably 3 dozen of the Roush louvers in out shopwith no complaints. What we do is put a dab of blue locktite on the threads of the screws and then not tighten them down all the way so that the louver is either barely touching the paint or not at all. If there is any rubbing of the paint then it is minor scuffing of the clearcoat which can easily be buffed out with buffing compound.
