Default Idea for a Mod... Need Electrical advice.

I was at the Porsche Dealership a few days ago for fun, when I noticed how good the door sills look when you open them:

I would love to put a soft white light behind the "MUSTANG" door sills that lights up when you open the door.

Any Ideas on how to accomplish this?

I know about the "FORD RACING" door sill, and it's sweet, but not what I'm going for.

Hmmmm. thanks! The Installation guide is pretty usefull.

Although I couldn't find the neccesary parts on that forum.

Anyone know where I could get a thin white light illumination device to slip behind the stock door sills?

I suppose I could cut out the "MUSTANG" lettering with a metal cutter...

Ehhhh. good find, but It's one long metal bar:

I like the stock look where it's just one aluminum rectangle in the middle...

I guess it's pretty specific, but you know when you've got a specific look in your head that you're looking for...

If they can make clothes to light up, then it shouldn't be hard to figure out how to illuminate the lettering in the door sill.

I would be intrested in doing this too, I saw the one that 2007CalSpeclinkedawhile ago, but didn't like that it was a long bar ethier. I would like mine to have red illuminationbut keep the factory door sill. Hmmm...

I'd suggest you mod your original one. Replacing your whole factory plate with the long, stainless steel sill is too easy! Wouldn't you rather have something unique? I bet there's a metal shop that can punch out the lettering. Then cut in the light to the door's switch.
Just be sure to add the 6 stripes to each side. I think it makes them look the way they should have come from the factory like this:
