Has anyone else had their gears changed and cant get the speedometer re-calibrated with the factory tune??
I just dropped my 07 gt off this morning to have a transmission noise looked at (high pitch whine) and while the car was there I asked them to recalibrate the speedo to match the gears and the dealer said the factory tune is locked and they cant get in to change it.
Before dropping it off I put the car back to stock form including factory intake and factory tune and thats what they are telling me.
I'm just curious if anyone else has an 07 that had their gears changed and put their car back to stock form and have this issue.
The dealer told me they haven't ran across this issue with the 05 or 06 models.
I'm stumped!!!!!

CHALK IT UP FOR SUTTON HIGH PERFORMANCE
Upon getting my car back from my dealership I tried to change the parameters of my factory tune using my Xcal 2 but to no avail it did not work... YOU CANT CHANGE THE TUNE, ITS LOCKED FROM THE FACTORY...
So I make a call to Sutton High Performance and Doug tells me to bring the car to them and they will take care of it..Well I just got back from them and let me tell you, if any of you live in the Chicago area you gotta check them out, These guys know their ****.....
All of my performance mod purchases and advice will be from them...They are top notch...
Oh as far as my speedo calibration goes lets say its history as I had them overwrite my Brenspeed tune with a factory tune with a 373 gear.

The dealer is an idiot and doesn't understand how reprogramming works. If you have a handheld tuner you should be able to change it yourself.

Go to another dealership.

I ran into the same thing out here in Arizona. I took it to 4 different dealerships, and none of them could recalibrate my car for the new gears. I ended up just getting a new CAI / Tune from Brenspeed and did it myself.

FORD WILL NOT CHANGE YOUR SPEEDO FOR NEW GEARS UNLESS ITS 3.55 or 3.31....you will have to get a tuner, which 90% of people already have that do gears and change them yourself.

Its not the dealers fault, its the tools they(we) have to work with. Ford didn't allow for enough adjustability for aftermarket gears in 07 models(READ:06 & previous= no problems) I've even tried to reproam with larger tire sizes to make up the difference, but for some reason, the 07+ models cannot be programmed for anything higher than 3.55 gears, and around 27.5" tall tires(based on revolutions per mile--roughly 800 max)


Just saying, dont blame the dealers, its a limitation of the computers we use to reprogram(IDS).

I have an 07 and am planning to get 3.73's

so are you guys telling me that if i had ford install the 3.73 rear that they could not recalibrate the spedometer and odometer for that?

also, will they void my waranty if I make the change myself on the stock tune with my tuner and then go in to have waranty work done with the stock tune set up for 3.73s?

A tune is a tune....if they are going to void the warranty for the tune, they will, it will not matter what the changes done in the tune are

wait a minute..... they're putting 3.73s in the bullitt, right? so shouldt they be able to adjust for them once it comes out?

I dont know anything about IDS but I suspect to get the 3.73 calibration from the Bullitt
you would have to download the whole program.
That means the car would run pretty rich without the intake, X-pipe, and mufflers.
