Future Plans need help!
was talking to my parents about supercharging my 4.0 by the summer and ask them everything I would have to do insurance wise and reliability w/mechanics. He said, when the time comes, I will have a few options:
1. Supercharge the 4.0 and get about 400bhp+ and be pretty reliable(35k miles on engine) It's an automatic.
2. Get a stick 99-04 GTand go full bolt-on or supercharger it. 30k-45k miles on engine and 500bhp~
3. Get a05-06 stick GT and dojust a cai, mufflers, and tune over the summer and have an 80k mile extended warranty(I can work the mods around the warranty). And I will go full bolt-ons over the next couple years. ~330-340bhp and low miles(less than 30k)
Any ideas and input on this would be great. I really wanted a stick car first, but the auto was a deal I couldn't pass up and finding a manual was almost as hard as looking for santa claus on christmas. I want a faster car, soany situation is a win.I'm still not sure what to do. Pluses and minuses of each choice would be a lot of help too! Thanks ahead of time! I already posted this in the 4.0 section and wondered what some of the GT guys would suggest, so I posted it here too. Leaning towards the S197 GT b/c reliability, looks, manual tranny, and over 300hp.

I would love to charge my car, but I heard about reliability going out the window(I would run 12psi intercooled on any charged set-up) and sooner or later, I will have an expensive engine rebuild. That's why I'm leaning towards choice 3, and ifinsurance isn't that bad for a 19yr old compared to my 4.0,that choice would most likely be a lock for reasons aforementioned(is that a word or multiple words?).Reliability is really throwing me away from f/i right now. Plus if I get a stick, I will be the happiest person in the world. Tell me what you would do in my shoes and why? Keep the posts coming!
First off I would say that you should not waste your money supercharging a 4.0L. If anything you should twin turbo that. You will see much better effeciency, reliability, and power gains. Now even then I can't help but say get rid of the sixer. I mean you have a modern muscle car that has no muscle. I like the option of moving to the new GT and going the bolt on route, but that seems pricey. If you have the money go for it.
If you are looking for power I say go the 2004 terminator with a supercharger swap. I would love that car. The only downsides are you will be sacrificing all the creature comforts of your current mustang. It would cost about the same as getting the GT with bolt ons and would put out well over 150+HP more. I dunno I have thought about it before, there are so many other angles you could take, and so many things to consider.

Personally, if you eventually intend to boost a vehicle, and then go through the motor-- I would consider either 2 or 3. The 2v engines are cheaper to build, but generally arn't as responsive to mods as the 3v engines are. All depends on what you want, and what body style you like best.

thats just me though.
