Ditto. The CAI's are all equivalent in performance by themselves. The decent vendors on the forum have combos that range from about $550 to $650. I recently installed mine after owning my Stang for 5 months and was sorry I had waited. Total install time: about 1 1/2 hours (and I took my time).

If you want a CAI WITHOUT a tune then get the BBK. All CAI will work better then the stock box, heck the mew Bullitt and Shelby GT (not GT500) have a Ford CAI.

But a CAI with a Tune will give you more hp then one without.

BTW tunes are chips/programs now. No more changing the points. Showing my age.

Also the K&N is a good cold air intake without a tune but they suck with a tune

I thought this was a good article but imo leans towards CAI's that require a tune because they ran the vehicle at 93 octane. On a stock car, or a CAI that doesn't require a tune, that will cost you a few ponies.

Not so sure about this statement. The stock air box is quite capable of supplying all the air our engine needs. Most so called CAI's offer a guaze filter media that allows heated under the hood air, to be combusted. Only a true, (vented or ducted) to the outside CAI, will come close to the stock box. If it is just laying up in the engine compartment without a block off partition, it is'n helping and may be hurting.

GidyupGo, Excellent point. Having the Saleen SC and stock hood makes it rather warm under there. Just have read that it changes the way it sounds. Guess some further research is in order.

Thanks for the Steeda reply! Can't believe I forgot since I look at their stuff all the time.

I think the best definition of "CAI" is "1964 Ford Thunderbolt" [8D]
