Default Cold Air Intakes

I know I just posted a question the other day about louvers but I'm really wanting to improve the performance in it as well as appearance. I have an 06 GT. What would you guys and gals recomend for CAI? Brand? What kind of performance boost would I be looking at if I installed one of them on there?

The two most popular are C&L and JLT. Its the tune that will wake your car up.

To be honest, I really don't know much about tunes yet and I know I should. This is going to sound like a dumb question. What would be the ideal tune? Something that would be noticeably different but not so extreme that it's going to start wearing the engine down quick (if that even makes anysense). I'm not sure if thats true or not, but thats just what I've heard. If there is a site out there that tells a little more about the CAI and the proper tunes that would be awesome. Or if you guys have yourstuned a certain way, then please post it on here and how much hp gained off of it.

Ok, to make it simple here's the answer to your question: If you want a C&L Intake you will need a tune. In order to get that tune, you need to buy a hand-held tuner such as the SCT or Diablosport. Where you buy your Intake and tuner combo package is up to you. I went with www.brenspeed.com. When you buy the hand-held tuner, the guys at brenspeed will ask you what modifications you have done to your car. So you write down a list of what you have done and email it to them. They will program your special tune into the hand-held tuner you bought. So when you receive your intake and tuner package, all you have to do is install the intake and plug in the tuner (it goes right underneath the steering wheel column) load up your new tune, and WA-LA!!! your car is tuned. The only thing you would have to do to tune your car a certain way, is by choosing which octane fuel you want your car to run on (87, 89, 91,93 etc.) That of course, is the basics, which mostly everybody here does to their car.

It doesn't matter which one you get. All of them breathe better than the stock choke box.

They will all (for the most part) be pretty compareable ... the tune is where it counts... you can squezz more from a dyno as well over a mail order tune
