Handbrake on wrong side?

Why did FoMoCo put the handbrake on the driverside of the shifter???
I havent driven a 'stang yet but it looks like it's in the way the shifter..

As you say, you didn't drive it yet. It's actually not in the way at all.

i thought the same thing when i bought it. i was like WTF! but now that ive driven it, im 110% used to it, and when your parked and its pulled up, it makes a nice arm rest. lol.
