Default Camber bolts vs. camber plates

Just curious why it would be better to have new camber plates when doing suspension work vs. just getting some camber bolts which are much much cheaper?

range of adjustment

if your not racing and dont need more than 2 degrees they're not necessary

I read that camber bolts can "slip" under extreme use...that probably means racing. But, look at an aftermarket camber plate compared to the stock setup. Obvious differences, over time the camber plate is going to remain much more solid and stable. I guess it all depends on your plans for the car.

Plenty of auto-crossers & trackday drivers use camber bolts, they should be fine. Camber plates are great for adjustability, in that one can drive to the event, adjust the plates fairly easily and run the event, then adjust them back for street use.

Hey Chief,
Could you elborate a little on this for us please?
I am in the process of getting my parts for my suspension and I have BMR camber bolts with new factory strut caps.
I have been considering the Steeda camber plates for my D-Specs though.

In the spring I am planning on getting into some Auto-X and was wonder why would I need more camber adjustment for that?
Care to do some educating?
Thank you sir.

I'm hoping F1Fan will step in here. I can give you the meat and potatoes explanation but he will get into detail that i'm too lazy to.

with the camber bolts you are limited to adjusting onlycamber at the knuckle, with the caster camber plates you can adjust the caster and camber

some of the caster/camber plates are also new upper strut mounts that will eliminate the popping sound of the factory plastic piece. I decided to spend the extra cash and get new plates.
