Auto vs. Stick (Exhaust Note)

Auto vs. Stick (Exhaust Note)
Im thinking of switching to an automatic given the tremendous amount traffic to my new hometown but have a dilema on my hands. Previous auto Stangs I've had just couldnt deliver on the sound that the manuals seem to put out. I feel like this is for several reasons along with the obvious one being that the car wont wind the gears up to 3 or 4 grand when casually driving. But is there something I could get on the car to make the shift points higher and not so brief, because I enjoy hearing the cars RPM's drop then go into the next gear much like you hear on a manual. Also the autos feel a bit slower too, if anyone could shed some light my way that'd be Stupendous!!

RE: Auto vs. Stick (Exhaust Note)
I had an 05 in auto that i too hated at the time because of the above stated reasons, and then traded it for the manual I have now, but am reconsidering going back due to all the traffic im dealing with from now on. Oh and unforutnatly I'm in Florida, I wish I were in Cali though..

RE: Auto vs. Stick (Exhaust Note)
Mine was slower than all my buddy's with manuals when I first got mine so I was a bit disappointed then. I live in Vegas so traffic was a factor when I chose between the two. Now I have no regrets, great at the track, great for daily driving.

You can shift the auto the same way you shift a manual and do it
without a clutch. Drop it into low, accelerate up to desired rpm, let off
the gas a little, shift up a gear and accelerate. I joke with my wife while
doing the above shifting method. I tell her, "watch...I'll make it sound like
a manual". Of course this defeats the purpose of an auto, but it canbe done.
I do it all the time..especially when I want to bounce the front end with a quick
stab of the throttle (to show off of course)....you need to have the RPMs up to
do that, therefore in a auto you have to put her into manual mode.
