Hurst shifter rattle
Mine does it, but only in third gear and only if I am not on the throttle. I've checked, double checked and tripple checked every bolt, applied locktite and it still rattles a bit. Im ny case, I kow it's the bushing. Going to try the rubber solution mentioned above and see what that does.
I forgot to mention that I also cut a gasket out of thin cardboard with two holes and installed it between the shift handle and the linkage arm, I think this may have also reduced the vibration from taveing up the handle. To sum it up, changing the rear grommet to stock, installing thick rubber over the shifter ball linkage and then the cardboard gasket. And it almost compleatly cured mine. It used to rattle like crazy any time I got on the throttle (3x rpm +) and now it did it just once when I put down some 2nd gear rubber (and I could barely even hear it)
Hope this helps

Could just be a loose handle. Mine loosened up on me several times until I did this to it along with a couple of good lock washers.

Remove the two bolts that attach the arm to the shifter. Apply two drops of loc-tite to each bolt. Reinstall bolts. Drive happy.

Hurst shifters are so cheaply made. Mine rattled because the spherical bearing was too small for its housing and had play in it. It's sitting on my floor in its box. Tomorrow I'm installing a Steeda Triax.

I Love My Hurst!

Go to hardware store and get (as I remember) 2 5/16 nuts.........tighten down shift lever to the shifter and put nuts on the other end and tighten them.......mine never made noise again...
Cheers!
Cheers!
Guys, I installed my Steeda Tri-ax today. Wow! Now, that's quality! Very sweet shifting! To me, people overlook Hurst's crappiness because of its looks. If you ever see a tri-ax and a Hurst side by side, you'd understand. Hurst is the Miss Teen USA South Carolina of shifters......can't survive on looks alone.

Yes, I would describe my Hurst that way....
