AUTOMATIC'S

RE: AUTOMATIC'S
So I guess since most of the Drag Racing cars have Auto Ratcheting type shifters they are all "Ghetto Shifting"
Hmmm Interesting.
Some of us like to drive on winding roads and shifting the car manually give much better control of the car in the twisties. The stock shifter is very sporadic and you can mis shifts with it since it is so soft and has ZERO positive engagement between the gears.
The TCI and B&M both should be out by Januaury. I expect the TCI to be released first.

Just out of curiosity, isn't the mustang gt tranny a 5 speed auto...I only see 1, 2, 3 on there? Just curious, never seen that concept before.

1,2,3, + drive (which auto shifts 1,2,3, & then into 4), plus there's also "overdrive" which is 5th gear.
Overdrive can also be switched off with a button on the shifter if you want to keep it in a higher powerband.
Kicking down a gear when at WOT is a beautiful thing in these cars, and I don't miss driving a stick at all (did that for the past 31 years in my bimmers), except perhaps when I'm on an empty winding road- which almost never happens these days.........

RE: AUTOMATIC'S
To answer the original question, there isn't another auto shifter available yet. Many of us have been waiting for one. B&M has been working on 1 for about a year and half now. They showed the finished product at SEMA last year, then blamed thedelayed release of the shifter on the aquisition of Hurst although that was the beginning of this year. B&M says they will release it by the end of this year. It is on their web page and IMO is butt ugly. TCI just showed their shifter at SEMA this year and said it will be available January 8, 2008. The TCI will definitely be going in my car! -Joe
