$100 over Invoice
Just went in and talked to my buddy about getting into an 08' Convertible, is $100 over invoice any good these days or is it just another one of those marketing polys? What are the X and other plan prices?
Any car $100.00 over dealer invoice is good. Here's the thing..you are talking about an 08 model? Don't beleive it...07 model, sure...that's credible since they want the older models out of their lots like yesterday...just like 157db said.
Yeah, its an 2008 GT Premium Convertible.. I'd have to order it. I priced it out with IUP, HID & Active Theft, GT Package. MSRP was $34,500. Lucky I just went over it, I totally forgot about the comfort package! Gotta have my heated seats
Total out the door price tax+tag+title is sitting at $34.7k, I don't understand why rebates have to be applied as a down payment and not toward the sale price of the car so you can save on taxes. [:@]
So, figure $34.7k - $1500 current rebates, I'd have to come out with $33.2k out of pocket. Thats still seems a bit much, and I don't think the rebates will be around by the time I take delivery, does anyone have some kind of rebate forcaster so I'd know what to expect come Feb-March when/If I take delivery around that time?

Invoice and MSRP are two different things. Dealer invoice on your car (without looking it up) would probably be close to $31000,give or take a few hundred. Traditionally, $100 over invoice would mean $31100. Thats not gonna happen, UNLESS the dealer gets some other kickbacks fromFord. The salesman alone will get paid at least $100 for the sale. Then everyone else in the office has to be figured into the profit margin as well. When I sold Nissans back in 88-90, there were NO kickbacks from Nissan. Every dealer paid the same price for the same car. Some of the real tightwads just couldnt understand that. Couldnt tell you if Ford does the same thing or not, even though they should. Keeps the field even for the littleguys.
X-plans,A, B, doesnt apply unless you are a Ford emplyee. Some larger companies will set up a discount program with local dealers. Those are nothing more than a no-haggle style pricing structure. Anyone else can come by and buy it for the same or even less if they like going round and round with the sales people.
Rebates? Only the Ford marketing boys will be able to tell future plans. Maybe your delivery time will coincide with the nations worst weather and Ford will offer a goody to vert buyers over a weekend special or something.

Yeah I might have to hold on to my 07 GT Coupe a little longer. I just realized I have a copy of dealer copy thing with the actual invoice, A&Z, D, and X plan prices printed at the bottom. He's letting me order the car at actual invoice and the price is good indefinitly so we'll see, Maybe in a couple of months.
