thinking of high-flow cats... anyone have them??
i'm thinking of welding high-flow cats into the stock H-Pipe, to compliment the MAC Axleback.
I've run the car with an O/R H and I did not care for the nasty, raw sound. Now with the stock cats, it's slightly muffled.
So if anyone has high-flow cats....
will it trumpet like catless?
will it be louder than stock cats?
thanks guys.

I have the Kooks with high flow cats. My other set up was shorties with the o/r H pipe. The h/f cat are better imo for a few reasons. Sound better, not as loud and LEGAL.

I'm pretty sure the stock cats are already high flow cats.. Unless you are getting LT headers with the high flow cats I don't think adding high flow cats to your stock H-pipe will change the sound that much.

going from stock setup to a o/r x setup is like maybe 7 HP....so going to a high flow H pipe setup isn't going to get you hardly anything....add resonators if you want to get rid of the trumpeting effect. This will also quiet it down a little and smooth out the tone

I don't have high flow cats yet but plan to get some in the future. These are the ones I'm getting...
Eastern Metal Matrix 2.5" Bullet Cat - 79125
They have only 200 cells per square inch which are very high flowing. There's also the Bassani CompCats which have 300 cells per square inch. Less cells = better flow. I like the Eastern one because they're smaller and would fit better in tight spots. I would need to find a shop that would be willing to change out my stock cats since replacing a working cat is illegal in my state of California. Once it's changed, who's gonna know the difference as long as it passes the smog test.
The reason I plan to get high flow cats is to increase my exhaust sound volume, without having to go with an O/R pipe, and gain a little HP too.
