Default Question regarding storage

Hey all,

I got a 2005 GT and I put her into storage for the winter....and I am looking for advice on what to do with it. Do I need to start it up regularly? And if so, how often and how long and so on. I am new at this as you can tell, so any advice is well welcomed. Also anything else I should do while its in storage would be great as far as upkeep and stuff, if anything.

Thanks in advance guys

Add some Sta-bil with your final fill up and drive it for awhile to get into the system. After that only two words..........Battery Tender. Just got mine washed and into storage today.

I wouldn't worry about starting it. Just make sure you keep the battery fully charged somehow. Ideally you would want to keep the battery in a warm place like your house,or if the car is in a heated space it will be fine. Cold seems to kill batteries.

Starting it up periodically does more harm than good, unless you actually take it for a spin to warm it right through.

Fuel Stabil, Batt tender, dust cover, tires at 40psi. Should be good to go.

I have to store mine outside. I will have it covered and the battery stored in the basement. Should I still put the psi up to 40?

The basis for this is to prevent flat spots on the tires but an easier way is to fill the tires with Nitrogen instead of air. If you decide to run it periodically then make sure you run it for at least 20 minutes to get the engine hot enough to evaporate any moisture build up. You can leave it for the cold season & not run it but before you start her up in the spring disconnect the coil lead & allow the motor to turn over without firing up - that way you will prime the engine with oil before you allow it to start operating at speeds where the lack of oil (remember it will all be in the sump) can cause damage.

Perfect, thanks guys for all the advice. Its kept in a fairly warm garage so hopefully itll be ok, I have to go pick up some of that sta-bil tommorow and get it into the system before it snows again.

What about the sta-bil fogging oil? Is that required or not as important?

I've never used an oil additive for seasonal storage but then again I did put slick 50 in my vert last season so it should be good for a while anyway.
