it also helps to sit your car in the sun for an hour or two before removing vinyl/decals.

they should then peel off with a lot more ease along with taking most of the adhesive with them.

easiest and cheapest way I have found is to use wd-40. I use to run a trucking company and had to pull lettering off all the time and w-d 40 works great. just spray a little on and use a soft cloth and it will come right off and cleans up nice without any damage to the paint. just be sure to wash it with soap and water before you try and install the new stripes. good luck

I had some tape residue on my car after it was in the body shop. I used some stuff I keep on hand for household use called Un-Du. You find it in the office supply aisle of Wal-Mart. It will take ANY kind of sticky substance off for you, no paint damage. That stuff is so safe you can drip it on a photograph and once the photo's dry there's no damage at all (I've tried it...it works!) If it won't damage a photo, it sure won't damage your paint.

probably gonna get hit by all the tree huggers here, but I use simple, good old fashioned, gasoline to remove the glue. Splash a bit on a rag from my spare gallon can, wipe away and VoilÃ* !!

Yes yes yes, where gloves, don't smoke, don't kill whales etc etc etc [8D]

That's why I am just leaving the strips alone for another month then getting them painted on and having the painter remove the old ones. I started to do it and it was a pain in the ***.

It surprised me the first time I ran into it too, but 3M Stripe remover (3M Id : 60-4550-3065-4) is designed not to remove the adhesive, only the stripe, 3M wants you to follow up with 3M Stripe adhesive remover (3M Id : 60-4550-3066-2).... Using these two products is pretty expensive, but it is effective with minimal elbow grease....
