I think they tame the appearance of the car, but they are functional. I'm doing without.

I had the same initial thoughts ("splash guards...on a Mustang?!?!"), but the ones that I've seen actually don't look too bad. They're pretty discreet.

The only splash guards I like are the GT500 ones, BUT I have a V6 so 1) they won't fit 2) I don't know how good of a job they would doanyway because of how small they are. However, even though I don't like the looks of the factory onesI'm considering putting them on just for the winter only. I agree, it's a pain in the **** keeping that rear quarter clean of tar crap.

I have splash guards and I love them. They are just as wide as the tires and from the rear they look like they were made for it (which they were). Works great protecting the rear quarter from chips and slop.

here's a pic.

Most who look at them objectively have to admit they don't look bad.
Then there's the knee-jerk reaction of semi truck, Yosemite Sam, etc., comments.
They're not for everyone of course, but they look good on my Stang, and help keep her looking good.
You can hardly tell that they're there.

Yep, that's the ones I'm talking about. The GT500 ones seem lame as in almost not there. Don't know how good they would do, but they are almost invisable.
