no its true. it should beonly on a GM motor. you need to do some engine work, cam and re-tune it. there is some literature on this, just gatta dig it up. One of the big magazines had a very good article on it awhile back.

its a GM thing
GM messed up on their motor and causeda "hot spot" to occur away from the front(water pump) and the swap evens it out and a new hot spot to be made near the water pump

well just thinkin about the 5.0 H.O. motors didnt they change the firing order up on those from the earlier 302's? maybe im wrong my memory is a little hazy,
