thanks mlcrycc this helped big time. my steering wheel spoke finish panels were scratched by dumb ax at dealer. this made it easy to replace them myself.

You have to pop off two plastic caps on the side, remove those two bolts, pop the module out, disconnect it, take out one more bolt, pull the steering wheel (get a puller at the auto parts store), then put the new one on and work backwards.
I wouldn't even try to do half the things people around here do because I know I'd screw something up, but this is so simple. I don't know what a dealer would charge, but it takes five minutes, including connecting and disconnecting the battery.

No. I've done it on an Explorer, and Mustang steering wheels are exactly the same except for the spoke covers. The air bag isn't made of dynamite, and it's not going to spontaneously explode. Disconnect the battery, of course, and don't work on the thing with your face right in front of it, just in case Ford gave you a bad one or something.
