Default Shaker 500 Question

Was sitting in my GT tonight without the engine running. The question I have is, with the volume off and the radio onI hear a humming or hissing noise through the speakers. Is this normal? If I turn off the radio the sound is gone.

Thanks Mike

I've got a 2008 gt, a month old and I've noticed the same thing. I was thinking maybe there is an amplifier somewhere in the car or maybe its part of the sat radio. I don't really know......

Thanks for the input guys. It seems I am not the only one with this problem. I was hoping that the responses would say this was normal. This will get checked in the spring, once out of storage.

It's 'normal', it's just the crappy amps.

my 2007 and my dads 2006 do that. I was thinking maybe it keeps the current selected CD spinning?

it could be power is still running through the amp even though you have the sound turned off so you might hear a little hum

Power runs through the amp until you turn the radio off completly. Even with the volume all the way down there is still a signal being sent...thats what you hear. I had that question whenI bought the car...and thats the answer they told me. Hope this helps.

I had a situation with the Shaker 1000, Car off, door locked with Key Tab, and as I'm walking away I hear what sounds like a car horn stuck in the on position. It's the "Thing" in the trunk.....I can't get it to stop for nothing, had to disconnect the Battery, then all was back to normal. Less than a week later I had to buy a New Battery, related or not I don't know but something was drawing a lot of juice out of the Battery.
