Loudest, Best sounding Exhaust system?
Hey guys,
I'm looking into upgrading the exhaust on my 2006 GT, I'm looking for something that'll be nice and loud, emissions legal and also a nice clean sound.
I'm looking into the SLP loudmouths, and so far thats what everybody seems to say would be the loudest. I'd also be adding an H or X pipe, Depending on if I can find something thats going to pass emissions in NYS, and not have my check engine light on all the time.. What are your opinions and/or suggestions when it comes to finding a nice, loud exhaust system?

What would you recommend? I want something with a very distinguishable sound, The stock exhaust is great. And I just keep thinking that alot of aftermarket exhausts would sound too similar to the stock one since it sounds so good.
Is it difficult to put the stock H pipe back on? No cutting or re-welding involved? Also do you have any check engine light problems?? I hear alot of people get a check engine light when running an off-road pipe.

i'm in new york state too...i run an off road prochamber with borla stingers...loud and very good. I'll put the stock h pipe on for inspections

I've heard alot of exhaust setups for our cars in person. I would look at some videos, or get to some car meets next Spring to hear them in person. It's all a very personal choice. I'm partial to Borla, MAC, Flowmaster, and Corsa but you really need to listen for yourself. Drone is another thing to consider. IF you haven't seen this thread, look here....

Whoever does your tune (i.e., Brent at Brenspeed) can turn off your O2 sensors so you don't get the CEL.
BTW, get Borla stingers. They are hands down the best sounding exhaust, and they sound nothing like stock. JBA and Flowmaster....those are the ones that sound closest to stock.

it takes about 2 hours on jackstands to put the h pipe back on...i did get a light when i switched to an off road pipe but I recieved my tuner and cold air intake the next day. Doug at B@ma tunes disabled my rear oxygen sensors in the tune to turn the light off. Most tuners do with an off road set up. There is always an option to return to stock on the tuner
There are a number of exhaust set-ups that are loud some are not so legal. SLP's will sound like very raw as they are a straight through design. If you want to find out what they would sound like then just take off your mufflers and see if you like the way carsounds..its not SLP but its pretty dam close. The next set-up close to SLP'swould be Mac's Boomtubes. These are kinda like SLP but have some sort of baffling on the inside of the muffler. The sound is smoother, more refinedand still very loud especially at WOT.
As far X or H your car, assumming you have a GT, has an H-pipe. The x-pipe is will make your car sound much more raspy. In terms of performance there is very little difference other will argue otherwise. The H-pipe is a little more deeper than the X and the Prochamber is even deeper sounding. I would recommend you check out youtube to hear different exhaust set-ups.
I have an x-pipe and wish I would have keep my H-pipe.
