I've got the same whistling noise in my auto. It happens especially when i'm rolling through a parking lot or something. Doesn't bother me too much though, sounds somewhat like an s/c. [8D]

I have an auto and never noticed a 2nd gear whistle.
I did, however, experience a bad whistle when my GT was new. It would start at about 25mph. Turned out it was because all 4 of the vents were totally closed and air was coming in, which creates a whistle!

what about a whine...only on cold start-ups, when car isnt even moving i can't tell where its coming from, but it only happens when it is very cold outside, for the first several minutes of operation. Hammeron? Anybody?
Edit: it happens whether I am moving or not, in gear or out.

Are you sure it isn't squealing? It is possible the brake pads are almost worn out. Many pads, ( not sure about mustangs as I am new to them), have metal tabs that will rub against the rotor when the pads are worn causing a sqeal. They do this so the sqeal can alert to you to the fact that the pads are wearing out. Just a thought.
