Default Shorty antenna

I've seen the antennas on eBay that are 17" shorter than the stock one, and I think it would look pretty good on my '05, but has anyone installed one of these? Is the reception really just as good as the bigger stock antenna? Does the antenna just screw off, or is there some trick to removing the existing one?

THE ANTENNA JUST SCREWS OFF AND THE END IS MALE SO MAKE SURE THE ANTENNA YOU GET ISN'T FEMALE. I WAS ALSO THINKING OF GETTING A SHORTER ONE AND HAVN'T BECAUSE I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING ABOUT RECEPTION.

I just got one at my local Pep Boys today at lunch. I haven't measured it but it's about half the size of the factory one. I will post how the reception is, after my ride home today after work. Only cost $9.95. Looks much better. I'll take a picture too.

Thanks Dave, that would be great. If the reception is good then I'll swing by Pep Boys on my way home tonight and pick one up (rather than paying $15 +shipping on eBay).

No problem. I'll even post the part number. They had at least 4-6 different kind & sizes to choose from.

The part number would help out a lot. I just went onto their webiste and there were like 5 different ones, and the site wasn't working too well so I didn't get through all of them.

OK, it works great. Radio comes in fine. I even used the seek button, every station was found! It's only 17" tall, the factory one is 32".
Sound FX # 73347 Found it near the radio stuff, not the rack with other car antenna's on it.
