Yes, mine has a mind of its own and it gets cranky from time to time. When I filled up last week, I must have gotten 10 miles down the road before the needle reached the full mark. [&:]

Unless it the guage quits working altogether, Im not gonna get too excited over it. Unfortuantely, I dont have the time to make trips to the dealer for little stuff. Good luck!

The gas guage has 4 modes of operation.
No Slosh Mode
Key on refueling
Key off refueling
Recovery Mode
Non understanding of the logic
can cause one to think their gas
guage is intermittent in operation.

I had that same problem, and it turned out that my sending unit wasn't working properly. I'd have that checked out, to be honest.

There are actually 2 senders. One per side on the saddle bag style tank.

Car has 2 sender units one behind the driver that has the pumps and behind the passanger that connects through a tube to the sender beind the driver.

This is the piecethattellshow much gas there is in the that side of the tank. Each sender unit has this device, (i hear) the computer takes the avg of these 2 devices. I do know one sender unit can tell the car it is out of gas. I had a problem of my pumps not taking gas from the other side of the tank and my car would read E even though the other side of the tank was full. ( and yes I would run out of gas after a couple miles) ( the crack in this piece you see here was causing my gas gauge to drop to empty at a little under half tank even though there was plenty of gas. I bought a newsender unitto fix that issue.
This is the stupid piece I keep breaking.

This can also be caused by sulfur buildup on the sending unit. Run a couple bottle of Chevron Techron Fuel Additive through the tank and see if it clears up. This is one of many reason why you should use a Top Tier Fuel in your car and not the cheapest gas you can find.

Looks like an artificial heart. [8D]

And to correct myself, its spelled gauge, not guage.
