Anyone know how to get the rubber shift **** off the 05 GT? I unscrewed the ****, but I cant get the lip that holds the shift boot flush off of the old ****.

Appreciate any help.

Unsnap and remove boot at the console first. Unscrew the **** an lift off boot and ****. You can now pull it apart easier.

Default RE: shift **** removal

umm...no...the problem is...I have a new leather wrapped shift **** that I like. The stock shift **** is held flush against the boot by elastic on the boot and a lip on the lower part of the shift ****. I shimmied the elastic off the stock shift ****. but the replacement **** doesnt have a lip like the stock one. I think the stock lip is a separate piece from the stock **** but I cant get it off. So when I screw on my new **** the elastic on the boot wont stay up flush against the new ****. Does anyone know what the hell im talkin about. I already returned the new ****, but still want to replace the crappy stock one.

Also, does anyone know of a good place to get racing stripes painted on in the Southeastern VA area?

How long (ie how many miles) before I can start making minor engine mods? (ie exhaust, intake etc...)

thanks in advance for your time...
